And just like that… the 2018 Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge Australia season is over!
I had a fantastic weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park and considering I’d never actually raced there before – I’m pretty happy with my results!
Friday’s two practice sessions I finished in the top 6, so I had a bit of work to do come Saturday’s qualifying session. I managed to qualify P5 ahead of race 1, which I was pretty happy with.
Unfortunately, race 1 didn’t go our way when we were turned around by another competitor, which forced us to the rear of the grid. I managed to fight my way back through the pack and brought it home in 11th.
I was relieved to have redeemed myself and cross the line in P4 for Saturday’s final race! I managed to finish 5th in the Championship, which I’m stoked with; given it’s my first year racing in the Porsche.
This year has been incredible for me, it’s been such a massive learning curve and I’ll certainly take all this on board ahead of next years adventures as well!
A huge thank you to all the crew at Wall Racing for an amazing year. Your hard work and dedication has been truly appreciated and I wouldn’t have been able to have the year that I have without you all.
A big thanks to all my sponsors for your support throughout the year, hopefully we can continue the relationship and I can’t wait to see what 2019 holds for us!
Bring on 2019!
