It was truly amazing to be a part of history, competing in the inaugural round of the TCR Australia Series at Sydney Motorsport Park.
My week started on a high with the announcement that Dare Iced Coffee would be partnering with us for the 2019 TCR Australia season. Working with such a fantastic brand means a lot to me. I’m extremely proud and grateful to be partnering with Dare Iced Coffee and really look forward to representing the brand.
Overall, I’m absolutely stoked with how the weekend went and I had such an awesome time driving the Holden Astra. There was such a great mix of drivers and I was excited to be a part of it. Friday consisted of two practice sessions, which I used to get to know the car and ended up P14 for both sessions.
Come Saturday, I qualified 15th ahead of race 1; where I managed to pick up a few spots and finished up P12 for the race, which I was absolutely wrapped with. We played a lot with the car balance and I was starting to feel more comfortable in the car.
Sunday was a busy day, with back to back races. Race 2 I crossed the chequered flag in 14th, which is where I would start the final race. Unfortunately, mid race 3 we had a loss in power of the engine, as well as a broken steering arm on the left-hand side at turn 10 which ultimately ended our race early, resulting in a DNF. It wasn’t the finish I was hoping for, but that’s motorsport!
These cars are such awesome fun to drive, and I can’t wait to get back into the #37 Astra ahead of round 2 at Phillip Island, June 6-9.
I would like to thank Dare Iced Coffee for their incredible support over the weekend, as well as the guys and girls at Kelly Racing for giving me a wonderful car!
Hope to see you at the next round!
