It’s been a few weeks since round 3 at Phillip Island and I can’t wait to tackle The Bend in South Australia this weekend! I have been busy preparing, but honestly haven’t been doing anything different to my usual race preps! I’ve been keeping up with my physical training, still been jumping on the simulator at home and have of course kept up with my mental preparations – seeing my psychologist and my chiropractor and ensuring that I have been consistent and keeping myself in shape.
We obviously had a bit of a mixed weekend in Phillip Island with some technical issues, but I’m confident now that those are all fixed and I’m feeling really confident heading into this round.
It’ll be my second time at this track, I raced there last year in the Porsche GT3 Cup and in fact, we were some of the first cars to race at this circuit. I remember it being really windy and dusty and there was no grip laid down, so it was very slippery – so I’m keen to get out there and see what the track is like in comparison to last year.
I do really love this circuit – it has state of the art facilities and the overall layout is really impressive. It’s a really big circuit, it’s wide, it provides great passing opportunities and has a lot of long straights – so it’s really important to get that tow from that car in front to be able to make a dive bomb into a corner. It has a great variety of fast flowing corners, tight corners and obviously long and fast straights, so it’s certainly a great combination track.
This weekend I’ll be pushing hard and looking to have a great consistent round and I’ll be looking to sit comfortably inside the top ten and hopefully even a little higher towards the end of the weekend.
This weekend’s format will see two practice sessions on Friday 12th July, followed by qualifying and race 1 on Saturday and Sunday will round out the weekend with two back-to-back races.
A big thanks to Dare Iced Coffee and Flair Dancewear for their continued support, let’s hope we can have a mega weekend!
