The Bend Preview

I’m really pumped to be heading into the first round of the Shannons Nationals at the brand new circuit – The Bend Motorsport Park! I cannot wait to get behind the wheel of my GT3 Cup.

We’ve been lucky enough to do a pre – test day today (Thursday), before the Shannons Nationals kicks off on Friday. The aim of the test day is obviously to get to know the track and also learn how the car handles through the circuit.

I’m obviously here with Wall Racing, they’re an awesome team that I’m pairing up with this year. They’ve been great in giving me advice and guidance so far and I’m really looking forward to working with them this year.

The track is the second longest permanent racetrack in the world at 7.7km, however – we will be racing on 4.9km this weekend. It’s very fast flowing, it reminds me a little of Phillip Island, which I enjoy!

I am absolutely blown away by the over all look and feel of the circuit, it is world class! The facilities, access and buildings are amazing and it gives a feel of an F1 circuit. It’s no doubt the best racetrack I’ve been to in my career so far and I feel so lucky and privileged to be one of the first to have a run out on the track.

I’m feeling really fit and confident leading into this weekend, I’ve been training hard with Webb Performance and keeping up to scratch with all my fitness – so I can’t thank Josh enough for all his help in prepping me.

I like to set my standards quite high, obviously a win or a podium for this weekend would be absolutely incredible – however it’s a brand new race track and my first race for the season, so I’m focused on seeing how I compare to the rest of the field and learning as much as I can. Ideally, a top 5 is my goal for the weekend.

I hit the track for the first Practice session Friday 13th April, 10:45am (ACST). You can keep up to date with my racing via my Facebook, @ChelseaAngeloRacing and Instagram, @chelz34.

Hope to see you around the track!

Chels.
